SSNC

Here at SSNC (St Stephens Neighbourhood Centre), we have a dedicated, close-knit team of youth workers and volunteers who work with our young people.

Varied youth group sessions regularly take place as below:

Tuesday, 4:00-5:30 pm, Suitable for ages 8-11

Then, 5:45-7:30 pm, Suitable for ages 12-18

Wednesday, 4:00-5:30 pm, Suitable for ages 8-11

Then, 5:45-7:30 pm, Suitable for ages 12-18

Thursday, 4:00-5:30 pm, Suitable for ages 8-11

Then, 5:45-7.30 pm, Suitable for ages 12-18

Sessions include many things: One-off Events (like last years talent show and the origami session), Structured Activities (Crafting, sewing, and some things more), and free play (Sports, Table tennis, Pool, and gaming consoles) – all with staff supervision.

YOUTH CLUB

The Kids Club takes place every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at SSNC from 4:00-5:30 pm and is generally suitable for ages 8-11.  During the spring and summer months, the majority of our activities are spent outside.

The clubs are a great way for local young people to meet new friends. There are always a wide range of  (age-appropriate) activities on offer each week, including: chalking-out hop-scotch and tic-tac-toe in the large outdoor area, parachuting, gaming, arts and crafts – and even trips out to local entertainment facilities in the summer months – Refreshments, Support, and Advice (and more) are always available in each session.

Beyond this, SSNC link other activities at times, from other places and facilities to other opportunities. We love to support the growth and development of the young people who attend these sessions.

(This is both within the Youth Club sessions AND the SSNC Youth Club sessions for our ‘older’ young people.)

YOUTH CLUB

In the Youth Club, we also offer activities. However, in these sessions, they are often planned by the attendees themselves. This shows their continuing development with us (as many of our members tend to transition to Youth Club from our Kids Club). We see them become self-directed and take initiative in improving themselves and their local community. This can be directly seen on our newsfeed on the Facebook page, and right here on this very website. Have a browse to find out.

The SSNC work in tandem with external agencies and are in partnership with the Maxlife youth project and Child Dynamix, helping our young people continuously develop their social and life skills.

Beyond this, SSNC always seek to provide a safe space, enabling our young people to relax, to have fun and try new things that may support the futures they are working towards.
